APPA’s corporate structure is one of a company limited by guarantee. It is also a large registered not-for-profit entity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth) (ACNC Act).
As such, the ACNC requires APPA's annual financial reports to be audited. APPA's current auditor is Susan Barbour of Subar Assurance.
APPA operates under the rules contained in its Constitution and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is dedicated to a governance framework which ensures the creation, protection and enhancement of membership value. The Board has also developed a range of operational and membership-focused policies and procedures to support the Constitution in the effective operation of the Association.
The role and responsibilities of the Board are outlined in the Board of Director Charter and Guidelines For Operations and supported by two formal sub-committees with detailed terms of reference: the Governance Committee and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee.
